HOW DO YOU RECEIVE THE WORD OF GOD?
1 Thessalonians 2:13 - For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
The Word of God is the Power of God (Romans 1:16). It has the ability to change any situation, but that depend on how one receives it when they hear it. How do you receive the Word of God that is preached to you by His servants? Do you receive it as though the Word is from them (human being)? Then you won’t definitely experience the Power that comes with it. Jesus says “ …………………the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. (John 6:63).”
The Thessalonians believers however did what was needful. They received the Word of God, according to Paul, not as from human but as from God when they heard it. And Paul says, for that reason, the Word was able to work in them.
Fellow brethren, the Word of God has Power. If you have been listening to the Word of God about your situation and it still has not changed, then you have to sit down and think carefully about how you receive it. Perhaps you don’t receive it as it is (Word of God). You may be receiving it as words of men. The Word is not like news papers my brothers and sisters. It has power.
When you are receiving the Word just as one from men, then definitely you won’t receive it with your heart because scripture says “Let all men be liars but God be truth.” So you may be thinking because they are human, what they are telling you might not be the truth. But if you know you are receiving it from God, you know God could never lie to you. Amen!
Jesus Himself was not able to do any miracle in His own home land because the people used His human nature to receive the Word that was spoken to them and so the power in the Word that Jesus spoke could not profit them (Mark 6:3-5). What a pity?
So what? From this day onward, make up your mind to receive the Word of God as it comes to you as the final truth from God and not from your pastor or any man or woman of God. Receive it as prophesy which is going to come to pass in your life. Amen!
